Missing data in your Qlik Sense Dashboard?

Do you recognize this? You and you team have put a lot of effort in the development and deployment of several Qlik Sense apps, which the CEO asked you to deliver in time.

You just made the deadline and then…a phone call…your CEO is not amused.

He is looking at a grey area in his Qlik Sense Dashboard! And now he is looking at you! How can this happen? You are responsible.

He will not be the first and not be the last user facing this horror.

Despite your effort there are missing QlikSense Extension.

So, what is your plan to prevent this next time? Control over your Qlik Sense Assets by knowing the environment of your Extensions.

With PlatformManager software you can get full control over you QlikSense extension and apps.

1. How to control your QlikSense Extension.

A lot of different Qlik Sense versions and different versions of extensions can make you lose the overview of your app environment. Preferably you want to have a quick and clear overview of all dependencies in you Qlik environment.

How can PlatformManager support you in gaining control and overview?

2. Import Extensions.

Extensions can be imported directly from every Qlik Sense server or via a ZIP file. Vizlib or Qlik Branch deliver ZIP files, which can be loaded into PlatformManager easily.

 3. Check during Import

Ideally you really would like to get a clear signal during deployment that an Extension is missing. PlatformManager provides this. You receive a notification that deployment cannot take place and which extensions are missing.

This pro-active feature is what you need to make sure you stay in control.
It prevents you from deploying a dashboard and walking into a frustrated Requester or Manager.

4. Dependencies

PlatformManager gives you a clear insight of all the dependencies by showing which Qlik Sense apps are using which extensions and vice-versa.

5. Automated Check during Publishing

During the publishing process of the Qlik Sense apps to the Test, Acceptance or Production servers, PlatformManager checks if all needed extensions are in the correct environment or server. In case one or more extensions are missing, a notification appears and the publication process is interrupted.

The process cannot be resumed until the extensions have been published to the appropriate environment. This ensures that a user will never see a dashboard with a gray area again due to a missing extension in the production environment.

6. Automated Documentation

The PlatformManager automated documentation feature, makes it easy to obtain a complete overview of the extensions used. The version number, extension types and all required files are provided in one clear overview.

7. Version control on extensions

With PlatformManager you can make changes to extensions in the development environment. These changes will be visible immediately after check-in, after which you can deploy the new extension to the preferred environment. Because the software clearly indicates which apps use which extensions, proper testing becomes easier and quicker. This information is not provided by default in Qlik, which makes this feature a must-have for your Qlik App developers.

8. And much more

In addition to QlikSense Extension Management, PlatformManager also supports managing Qlik View Apps and using Qlik Sense Mashups and Widgets.
